Richard M. Segal
Rick has been a Family Business consultant for thirty years. He works with family firms guiding ownership and management transitions often moving the business from an entrepreneurial to a professional phase. Rick’s consulting model is multidisciplinary – working in conjunction with other professionals and he often quarterbacks the professional team. Rick has presented to professional organizations including the Michigan Association of CPA’s and the American Institute of CPA’s. He also completed a speaking tour of Australia for Family Business Australia.
Rick earned a BGS Degree from the University of Michigan and an Advanced Certificate in Family Business Advising with a Fellows Status from the Family Firm Institute. He spent 20 years working in his family’s mechanical contracting business. During that tenure, he became president of the local trade association and Chair of the Industry Fund while sitting on the Health and Welfare Fund for Plumbers Local 98. He also started the Family Business Council – a local membership organization for family firms. Rick is a strong communicator with a wealth of experience in Family Business – both personal and professional.
